After breakfast at the hotel, we will embark on a tour to visit the Rococo-style palace in Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin), 30 km south of St. Petersburg. This palace was a summer residence of the Russian tsars and was rebuilt in stages by four different architects. Eventually, Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the chief architect of the imperial court, was commissioned to redesign the entire building on a grand scale to rival the Palace of Versailles in France. The palace is renowned for its magnificent design and opulent decorations, including the famous Mirror Hall and the Ballroom. It is considered one of Russia’s greatest architectural landmarks, reflecting the artistic innovations of the Rococo period. After visiting the palace, we will head to the Pushkin Museum, which celebrates the life and works of the renowned Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. The museum houses over 200,000 artifacts related to Pushkin's literary life, including memorabilia, books, artworks, and personal letters. It is an important cultural center for studying Russian literature and offers unique insights into Pushkin’s influence on Russian and global culture.
